We Are Buxton is a community forum dedicated to bringing people together, promoting open discussion and finding collective solutions to local issues. Made up of a range of local organisations, each working to support and improve our community and town, the forum aims to foster collaboration, addressing the needs of our town. We strive to provide a platform for positive change, to harness the power of our community and to shape our place together.

How it all began...

The We Are Buxton forum was an outcome of the first Big Buxton Conversation, hosted by Transition Buxton in 2021. With the town having no parish or town council, the absence of a representative body and need for better links with our local councils was identified as a priority.

An inaugural meeting took place in September 2021 and since then the forum has become established as a key tool for local communication and collaboration. The broader We Are Buxton forum, including council representatives, meets around four times a year – with 'Groups' meetings in between, to explore issues, opportunities and priorities including topics we need to raise with the council representatives.

The forum includes senior elected members and officers from High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council, alongside representatives from the larger community groups in the town including:

An invitation is also extended to Fairfield Residents Association and the MP for the High Peak.

We encourage active participation and discussion to achieve the best results.

If you want to learn more or raise an opportunity or issue for the Forum to discuss, please email the current Chair on inspire@transitionbuxton.co.uk
